    Re: battery move to boot?

To move the battery, all you need is a secure mount to go in the boot (Bolt a tray in?) and some long well insulated power cable (stereo cable is adequate) to reach the starter/alternator running through the car and away from stereo cables to avoid interferance. The original short earth wire can be used so long as the contact area is of sound metal and not painted.

Your power cable needs to be the same thickness/gauge as the power cable.

    Re: battery move to boot?

    Couple more things:

Use a big inline fuse near the battery.
Use a maintenance free battery so no venting of noxious fumes and acid.
Use a massively thick power cable, thicker than the original if poss.
Get a box from Demon Tweeks, rally design or similar to put the battery in. You don't want stuff rattling round your boot to short it.

Here is how I did mine

Distribution block to extend live to the boot

    Battery earth

Power cable and earth cable on the battery

Battery tray removed from the front and sprayed and screwed onto the boot floor

Don't use cheapo stereo power cable, get a hold of some welding cable. It will be overkill but costs half as much. Anywhere that sells welding rigs and accessories should be able to sort you out

    Re: battery move to boot?

save youself ££ and just go to a scrap yard and pull out a cable from a bmw that has the battery in the boot or under the rear seat..

they have all the battery connecters already on, length is perfect... I can supply secondhand ones if people want one.

    or ebay

    Re: battery move to boot?

    yeah, get some pics up,

this is how i did mine,

distribution block in the front with some 150amp fuses.

battery secured in teh boot with earth and another fuse inline

used 2 gauge cable, for everything new cost me about £45quid, cable being the costly bit,

getting a bmw cable or high amp welding gable would be the cheapest option

    Re: battery move to boot?

I "had" some battery cabling from work and some new ring ends, then my dad borrowed a proper crimping tool.
I put a 300amp fuse next to the battery.
