Hello thats my first time on this forum :) my name is Roy and i hve a question about a part in my car.
I have a 1992 "Opel (Vauxhall Cavallier) Vectra A" with 1600 engine with carburator. after the engine in the far side of the hood, next to the fire wall there's a black box with the word SIMENS on it. I think that this is the ECU that controls the ignition, but I'm not quit sure...
I also noticed that there are no vacum pipes that come out of the engine to the distribiutor. i want to know what controls the ignition, and if the black box has something to do with it and also know what this black box do....
I've also added a picture in the link

thank you very much

That black box is the ignition ECU. The dizzy is controlled electronically from that so there is no need for vec advance on it or any hoses.

The ECU gets its vac readings from a MAP sensor which you will find clipped onto the top of the buldhead to the right of the carb, it has a small vac hose going it it from the inlet manifold.

I wonder how did you realized that I'm from Israel....
Well I'm actually a friend in Opel Club you've talked to my father and helped him (if you remember you told him about the Kadett seats that Bilal sold to us...).
By the way, what's a "Dizzy"?

I've also added a picture of my new 1992 Vectra hood (wich has only 38,000 Kilometers!!) i found this vectra very comfortable and i'm enjoing my vectra ( and also my Opel Kadett) very much...
