When I unpluged the ALDL plug I noticed that the socket it plugs in to is really badly coroaded and that there is only 1 pin in there.
Should there be more then 1 pin?
Also what would happen if the ALDL plug is not plugged in when you drive?

Sorry I should have mentioned...I noticed all this when I was flashing out my ECU codes.
It may not be any big deal but just though it was strange that it was so corroded away and that I could see at least 1 other pin that used to be there that is now rotten and definitely can’t be making contact when the plug is in. Surely this must have some knock-on effect somehow?
Had a propper look and your right, it is a blank socket as I cant find any loom going to it. Its the pins inside the blank socket that had me wondering as on my C20LET there is one pin that lines up with pin G here:

Theres also a stump of another pin where the top has turned to dust.
Checked my C20XE and same deal on that as well...except it has 3 pins and 2 of them are bent flat.
