hello i haved decided im goin to save up around 5 months worth of wages taking of lining costs and then i should have about 4 grand so basicly wot would you do performance wise ? bare in mind im keeping my 1.6 i have oready asked i gy about some boddies on here so fire some advice at me please
what id like to do is
head word
cams
lighten cranck , engine ballance
maybe change to boddies
ecu
i dont realy fancy goin turbo yet is there any good idea's i have not mentioned
I working on a few engines at the moment and one is a 1.6, will be a few months until i have a good bench mark for power gains but for the amount your going to spend will not show a huge amount of power increase.
IF like you say you want to keep the 1.6 to maintain handling potential - why not turbo or supercharge it?? You would be WELL over 200bhp without thinking about it - wouldn't cost you nearly 4K either.
OR better yet, throw the car and 4K and Jamie. Would come back with a 300bhp C20LET mid-engined - no handling woes and silly power, would also stand out and be much more unique than a throttle bodied corsa.
90% of people on here seem to say put a let or xe in it as that is what most people seem to do i to wanted to do something driffrent so i turboed a 1.8 8v witch lots of people say wont get any power from it but when the engine was in my nova i pi$$ed over let novas well not all of them lol and it didnt cost me as much as a let would have thumbs up to u mate get some t/b on it some wild cams in with a nice head job on it a good managment system and a nice high limmeter then spend whats left on the handeling
well unless your in foreighn land you cant get superchargers for these otherwise i would have got it on there i was after one for ages but had no luck at all :< i think 200bhp is fairly reachable
not for 4k it isnt, you need cams on solids with suitable double springs and light weight caps and platforms, pistons, rods, decent headwork, one piece valves, throttle bodies, a decent exhaust manifold and a mappable ecu mapped properly too
200 bhp is achievable but you'll need to spend more, and to make the most of the performance of an engine like that you'll be wanting a better suited gearbox too, like a quaife sccr kit
i'm a big fan of keeping the small block engine, as no matter what people say, the car will handle better without the extra weight of the big block engine, for any given amount of money spent on the suspension etc, but its not the cheap route, trust me
can you not fit the mini cooper super charger on to it the is a place on ebay that sell the adoptor plates for them to fit vaux engines i looked in to this before i turboed mine but didnt think the cooper one was up to the job on a 2.0l lump ill see if i can find the place on ebay if you want mate
dont spose you no any where that gets the superchargers for these i was looking for ages do you know any where because i realy wanted one lol oh and long term project more moneys
i think a mapable ecu will pay off for you and the tbs will help alot as the x16xel is ment to be restricted intake wise and all of the stuff you mentioned in OP
nice one mate your a foot i know it mite sound numpty like but this is where it gets vage for me was doe the super charger run of like do i need any softwhere and wot else would i need to make this work please help mate n you realy are a foot
the super charger runs off of a pully system change the size of the pully for more or less boost all you reay need to get it running is find a good place to mount it so the you can mod the bottom pully to fit to the blower you could do with lowering the c/r and getting it after market managment all so need to get the extra fuel the so a good fpr and some bigger injectors ill try to find the link to the adaptor plates for them
there probley is but every thing i have done i have done my self with help of a couple of friends the long and short is you need to get the blower mounted in a good place and get the right amount of fuel for the boost but if you go down this route standalone managment would be a must i would say and lowering the c/r or you could leave your pistons in and do a high compresion one at low boost i.e 5-7 psi and that should still pull like a train and give some good figures if you could do this your sefl then you could do it on a lot less than 4k
think of a supercharger as half a turbo, it only compresses incomming air and dosent require exhaust gases to make it work, you can mount it where ever you can as long as it has a crank driven pully, people have run them off a cam pulley before but you need to alter the pully ratios due a cam pully roates at half the speed of a crank, the charges needs to go before the inlet/tb, but if you are still using std managment you will have to alter the AFM postioning so that its on the intake side of the charger.
I presume you've checked out SBD?
Looks like it'll be out of your budget to get their 200hp kit but the lesser 160 one would be a great improvement, with a good exhaust it's be a good start - then after the clutch upgrade and filters, etc, you'd have planty left over for the other goodies.
right it still sounds allot of work :< and i did i spoke to one of they guy and its only design for the engine not a standerd engine bay witch is rediculous
