Rev counter help please

Had another go with my external rev counter... and no didnt suceed. Going to give it one last go and then give up. So annoying as i bet its something really silly im doing. Anyway here are some pictures to ask you which wire does it connect to the ECU. Power is working just no response with the ecu.
Wires everywhere

Is the wire i connect in this block, the square one??

I have wired to the Blue wire 2nd bottom from the left, but this did not work. As you can see there are also green wires that i have read people have wired too. There was four in this set and also found that there was another green wire but covered over in a thick black "overcoat" Is it in this set of wires? if so which one?

Re: Rev counter help please

If its a vauxhall then its normally wired to a plain green wire coming from the main engine ECU

Re: Rev counter help please

Why not just swap your clocks for one with a rev counter?

Re: Rev counter help please

Looks to me like a 5dr CorsaB. 1.2/1.4?

As said, green from the ECU, there maybe one taped to the loom behind the clocks, failing that I would have thought that you could take a feed from the green at the coil?

Re: Rev counter help please

Yeah its a 1.4i corsa b 5dr. Where abouts in the engine is the coil? i Dont have a taped wire behind the clocks that is green. I thought it was a green wire going into one of those plugs? so i take it its not? Which one is the "clocks loom". Thanks for your helps.

Re: Rev counter help please

So you have taken your old clocks out, and looked at the plug in the back and there is not a green wire?

Re: Rev counter help please

Take another look mate, we are talking about the multi plug that plugs into the clocks.
Pull this out and look, or post a pic of it here

Re: Rev counter help please

ok i managed to find that green wire. joint the cable to that and ran cable to the external revcounter and clipped in.... still nothing. Do i not need to touch the ecu at all, as in link another wire to a cable in the ecu?

Re: Rev counter help please

power and ground straight forward. Then the external wire that goes to clocks... I thought to connect to something from ecu but just connected straight to the back of clocks where it plugs in 5the from the left pin.

Re: Rev counter help please

For future info, rev counters take the signal from the negative terminal of the (single) coil.
