Car revs drop / Cut out

Awrite,

I`ve got a Vectra, 1.8 16V, (W plate)

When driving and stop the revs die right down then up again, sometimes it cut out, usually junctions, roundabouts that kind of thing. Seen it happen when approaching round about and clutch is in to change a gear, obviously a slow gear change

Any ideas?

I`m planning to get it on a diagnostic machine soon, kinda good if i had a couple of ideas before going in.

On a W plate its probably the X18XE1 so no idle valve but has a motor the moves the main throttle flap to maintain idle. The usual cause of cutting out at junctions is carbon deposits around the throttle flap, So you will need to give it a good clean out.

Try cleaning the throttle as mentioned above. If not, is the engine management light coming on? Symptoms also sound similar to when the vehicle speed sender fails or is disconnected.
