fixing calibra volt gauge?

I thought that my calibra gauges were faulty and not working, but it seemed to be that the plug was not contacting correctly to supply electricity.
before i worked that out though, i took apart the volt gauge. so i took the needle out, and face off. to expose the coil. there is a coil in the centre of the pin, which has a small length that is straight. i put the needle back on, but it isnt reading correctly.
is there a way i can fix this? its just a case of finding out hwere to place the needle in the correct positon in correspondence to the position of the coil, if anyone knows.
i feel its abit of a waste to throw it away unless its beyond fixing.

cheers

Sounds scrap.
Would have guessed it was the wiring and not the gauge.
