Intermittent ABS light
Hi all, I have an intermittent ABS fault (light comes on) normally when the engine has been idling or in slow moving traffic for a while.
Most times, if I switch off, wait a while and switch the engine back on, the light goes out, but it's getting worse, so I know the problem isn't just a gremlin.
What I was wondering is this:
Is there anyway I can disable the ABS (fuse removal?) until I can afford to get it fixed properly?
And will it effect brake performance?
Thanks

If you pull the fuse, the only difference you'll feel is that the pedal wont start jumping around under anything more than light braking like it does with the ABS engaged. Be careful on damp stuff if you do disable it, I found out why... RIP My old SRi =] ... Anyhoo... Why don't you flash the codes out of it? That would tell you what the problem is... Might only be a small sensor or something...

On some cars if you pull the ABS fuse you also lose your brake lights - check this before going for a drive.

On a Cally you can remove the ABS fuse and your brakes won't be effected but obviously the ABS won't work and the light will be perminantely lit on the dash. It's probably one of the sensor pickups that dirty so try reading the codes off first to find the offending sensor and give both the sensor and the ABS ring a good clean.
