    Talking lightweight battery

Looking to save a little more weight with the new lightweight rally car soon to be built.

I have looked at these varley red top batterys, but i am a little confused as to which one will suit my application?

How many amps per hour thingy will i need and the crank amps?

for a nova 1600, the only thing i have in the car is an intercom and some times the heater lol

on the odd ocasion a lamp pod

any help with this one electrical chiefs

IF you are running an alternator, then the battery is only to start the car.

So go for the smallest battery that will start the car at least twice, just in case.

    44AH isthe smallest vauxhall do.

cold cranking amps is the figure you need to be looking at, if you'r getting a farley red top racing battery then the red top 30 will be fine for your application, they dont like small constant discharges like alarms though so dont leave it un isolated for any length of time

I've been using the battery out of one of these for the last three seasons on my hillclimb car.

The battery is exactly the same size as a Varley Red Top 25, but less than than half the price and comes with a charger. It's never failed to start even with a high compression (11.5:1) 2L engine. I just put it on charge for an hour or so the day before an event because the car isn't road legal and often doesn't get started for several weeks at a time.

Think of the possibility of an alternator failure, a good heavy duty batt can allow you to finish the stage, whereas a light duty battery may let you down if you get an alterator failure, on the starting issues, I have started cars with Fire Alarm 20AH sealed lead acid batts with no problem, (Yasau) batts

    This is very true

This season i'm just concentrating on single venues, but next year i aim to have another shell built up and ready for the bigger events, like isle of man
