corsa battery light on

morning all,,

whilst driving the mrs's corsa 1.7d 1996 last night battey light came on and rev counter stopped working.
does this mean the alternator is knacked...........

however i had a cam belt fitted last week and the bloke put the same fan belt back on it....the adjuster was at its tightest and the belt seemed loose could it be sliping a bit.

started the car back up and the alternator wheel is spinning as well

any ideas please.........

just put a new belt on it. only a few quid. then see if it cures it.

cheers just tested the car the battery is kicking out 12.3 v and when engine is running its the same 12.3v no increase also when rev'd high the battery light goes out.

any ideas
