    Girdle

Not the xev one, thats way too easylmao
Ok after looking at Chris n lee's 400hp build thread ive got a few questions/idea reagrding the girdle.
First question is..............the main supporting part of the girdle,is it just tieing the caps in together or does the extending out to the block have a fuctional purpose(bar clearance)?
I know a few people were asking about gaskets and/or sealant from block-girdle.........now i got to thiking and came to the conclusion that in order to be of any use in terms of strength the girdle would have to be a face to face fit and torqued down pretty damn tight....yes,no maybe? Obviously in doing so there will be an sealing issue, iirc even if the block is perfectly flat,TFS had major probs within minutes of start up i think. Also there will have to a a gasket of some sort girdle-sump/splash pan which will reduce the amount of torque you can get on the outer edge of the girdle.............saying that would the small sump bolts even be upto the job if there wasn't any gasket compression issues??
Anyway after a quick think i was wondering if the main stregth comes from tieing the caps in what about a girdle that does just that. More thinking i dont think that would work of the bat as there will be clearance issues with the girdle webbing and crank...........unless the girdle is maching in such a way that it pertrudes out over toward the sump........then theres splash guard issues and the fact that my dry sump wont like that one little bit.........unless a seprate spacer is made to space the sump away from the now pertruding girdle
    Any suggestions folks?

OK for those who are not following ive hawked a pic of a evo girdle(hope the lads at APT dont mind)

As you can see it only ties in with the caps and protrudes out over...i'm guessing for clerance.
Sulry this is a better way forward, you could then use a spacer with gaskets/sealant and if the girdle is made correctly theres no need to machine the caps.

    Yay or nay?
