Angry Fault Code 38 - I'm lost and in need of urgent Help!

Well, my Cavalier Turbo 4x4 is having a wee issue. Basically.....if you drive the car all is well, but put it under load and the EML comes on. When I flash out the codes I get code 38, Oxygen Sensor - Voltage Low. I have changed the Fuel pump relay, checked all the wiring, checked the earths.....all seems when, I bought a brand new sensor.

Well the fuel pump relay didnt solve anything, but it was a shot in the dark as Vaux said. It can cause an error code 38.

Anyways, I have been doing some investigating chaps and found out some interesting information. I followed Ritches guide that explains how to test your O2 sensor.

    The procedure is thus:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Start Engine
Measure the voltage between the brown (earth wire) and the brown/blue wire.

    Should be between

    0.1v (LEAN) &
    0.9v (RICH)

The voltage between the other wire (white/black or red/blue) and ground should be approx 13v for the heating element.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats all fine and dandy, so I went and tested my plug in the above manor, now what i got was interesting. The white / black wire gave me the expected 13v or there abouts which was fine, however, the voltage between the brown (earth wire) and the brown/blue.......was nothing atall......I'm using an analog multimetre, but the needle doesnt even twitch.

So ....um........ whats the best way forward with something like that?? Anyone know?

Its the lambda sensor! Not uncommon for them to fail, get it changed and all should be well again.

Can't believe vaux told you to change the FPR because of a code 38 either before mentioning the lambda!

It was because I have put a new sensor in, they told me that the heater element draws its load from the FPR and it could be that which is causing the fault.....so that cost me £30 from them
