Ebay resistor mod TESTED on rollers by APT - results

Christian from Automotive Performance Tuning decided to test the "ebay resistor mod / IAT chip" out for himself to find out the REAL effect of it:

    Here are the results:

Teste vehcile: Ford Fiesta - 1998
Before Chip - 77bhp (checked over 2 runs)
After Chip - 65bhp. (AFR was down into the 10's!!)

    Money well spent then lmao

Did EXACTLY what i was expecting it to, but even i didnt expect it to lose as much as 15% power!

Chip, you forgot to put the fog lights on when you was doing the run!!!!! This would have increased the BHP to well over 180 IMO lmao

do you think if he had fitted 2 in series he would have seen a 30% loss in power?

I think I might as well present my test results on the eBay magnets you can fit to the fuel inlet line to improve fuel efficiency.

I've been using one on my Cav Sri for 2 months as I thought I'd give it a go as some people swear by them and others say they are sh*te. In my case it HAS improved fuel economy from an average 34/35mpg to 37/38mpg over 4 complete tank fulls so in my case is DOES work i.e. about 30miles to a tank more. I go through about 2 tanks per month in the Cav so it will have paid for itself in 4 months and then save from then onwards.

Yeah the 'wrong' bit, was fitting it to the car in the first place lmao

Exactly what I thought would happen with one tbh - although didn't think it would loose all that much

So whats the theory behind that one then? The magnets attract the metal in the petrol?

Well as most good organic chemists know petrol consists of a mixture of long chain hydrocarbons and some heterocylic molecules too (with varying alkyl chain lengths where n=10 or more). Now these molecules are hydrophobic in nature and hence will be non-polar and miss aligned as they are lath like. A strong magnetic field should hence align them to some degree and the theory is help combustion. chip if you don't understand any of that I'll explain it layman's terms if you want

Now I was sceptical too so I thought feck it I'll give it a go and it certainly works on my Cav

resistor mods work on diesels. on bosch ve pumps put a 1.5k variable resistor petween pins 2 and 3 that reduces the ac output from the plunger travel sensor, so the plunger travels further, gains about 15-25bhp and a ****load of torque. on commonrail diesels use the resistor to reduce the output of the fuel rail pressure sensor, the pump then raises rail pressure to compensate, power goes up until you run out of boost.
