    my dizzy cap

    hha i bought deanmcreynolds nova.....and found it not to be fueling correctly at all...removed fuel pump to find that the pic up pipe was split there for drawing more air than fuel...sorted that then it was all go from there after sorting out some wiring problems...took for a drive all good...untill i nailed it...removed dizzy cap this morning to find this...



    there are 2 contacts completly burn out....

    getting a new one later today...i would think this would be the problem

    Had a 1600 Escort in once with a misfire every now and then in the wet.
    Rotor arm was completely burnt away, leaving just the metal rod thing in the middle flapping about as it pleased.
    Went well when I test drove it too

    im sure thats a dizzy cap for a later spec engine with the bolt on rotor arm... thats normal if your rotor arm is bolt on rather than push on.

    so thats normal for the contacs too burn away then, ive never seen one that bad before

    Nothing is burnt away. Made in that style. Look at distance between contacts and centre of cap.
    New cap can't hurt though, one less thing to worry about causing a melt-down

    ah sh!t lol... i thought i was onto a winner...any 1 know what it could be ...will start and rev no problem but wen i drive it splutters away>?,,,i just connected the throttle position switch and it went no problem up to about 3rd gear then same again...connected back up and back to normal..

    id replace all leads, plugs, cap etc... if it still does it then work your way back...

    coolant temp changed...tps...cap..rotor...plugs...afm..coil...leads...

    am loosing the plot lol..

    the loom is a bit worse for wear so thats getting changed tomorrow.
