Transferbox pic request and update on problem...

Has anyone got a pic of the transferbox showing where the temp sensor goes in so i can compair it to mine? as ive found a temp sensor in the engine bay but it doesnt go to the transferbox.

Im getting one of my mates at vaux to read off the 4x4 codes tomorrow so i will hopfully find out why the lights coming on but i'd also like to get this sensor back in or at least find out why its been left out.

    Cheers

Right so it seems that my transfer box maybe a earlyer one with the 2 wire type sensor or the one with no sensor, but the problem is the sensor thats lying in the engine bay is the late single type one?

So if it wont go it what do i do?

all txb's had a sensor, either 1 or 2 wire, it may be an old box with a newer sender and needs a converter

no my point is that if the box is a older one then its been put in and the sensor on it pulled off leaving half of it blocking the box, my orginal sensor is a new type and is sitting in the engine bay so i need to know if i can fit mine in the box with out any bother.

ive tryed calling cav16 dont get thru

there were early cars without sensors.

what you need to do is earth the body of that sensor which is lying in your engine bay

a jump lead connected to battery - would do the trick.

then start the car and see if the light goes out this time.
if it does you need to find a better way of earthing the sensor.

yup voltage high means that the sensor is lacking earth

likewise voltage low would mean no power but good earth

so earth the thread of that sensor and see what happens

from half way through 1992 all transfer boxes were fitted with the sensor instead of the fluid level check bolt. the sensor interupts the voltage in the control valve if the fluid temp gets to high(<160degrees C) and then switches the 4x4 off and puts the light on. trouble code 33 is then stored. the code can't be reset until the sensor is replaced.as far as i am aware all senors have 2 wires. i am yet to see one with one wire but i could be wrong.
