Hi guys.

hope you are all well.

Well the SR is now sold.

And the Nova SRi is coming along nicely.

My question is if i put a cam in it will it knacker the engine cos my mate put one in his Sri and it was fu@@in quick but he needed alot of engine work 6 mths down the line cos it knackered the valves and head and stuff.

Would i have the same problem?

Well that depends (among other things) on the cam, the springs and how high you expect to rev it.

Perhaps your m8 went for a cam only and not a complete kit? Typically a kit would contain new springs and rockers too.
Higher revs+more cam lift=possibly the valves floated a bit and touched the piston.

The harder springs you find in a kit keeps the valves from floating.

Other than that? Well if it works the first time you drive it, then it also ought to work a year later.

My 20NE does 6500+ rpm on a regular basis with a kent cams AST15, the head is ground down as far is possible and it hasn´t complained yet.
