Hello,
Recently the alternator on my Astra has been diagnosed as fooked (not charging), the fault codes being displayed at the moment are because of 'low voltage'. Do you think there is a connection?!?!?!?!?!?!?

It's a pissabollity! What codes have you been getting?
i think there might be replace the altanator then see if you get the same error code but it should fix it.
The original code I had was: 57 Idle Air Control (Voltage Low)
Another one appeared last night: 61 Fuel Tank Vent Valve (Voltage Low)
I have got another ICV i'm going to try because the idle is a bit funny but it would be good(?) if these 'voltage low' problems are due to the alternator.
Thanks,
MattJ
I should of thought of that when you said it. Get the new alternator and whack it on.
It's been ordered!![]()

low voltage can also mean no voltage.
Yeah I know 0dders, but surely at the moment it does sound like the alternator?
MattJ
no, the codes are seperate. an ABS sensor low voltage reading is not because the alternator is not giving out enough whack, but because the ABS sensor is knackered, probably position too far away from it's inductive pickup.
The battery voltage is never used directly to give results on sensors. i.e. the output of a sensor is never directly proportional to the voltage at the battery terminals.
all the electronics works off a regulated supply, which is kept at a constant voltage, regardless of the voltage of the battery (to a degree anyway)
