    wheel wobble

i was driving down the motorway on my way home from work and the steering wheel started with a slight vibration then went to a full wobble about 1 inch each way. the cv joint has been clicking and knocking for a few days do you think it is just that. i had to slow down to below 30 but it still did it slightly but if i turned it stopped for a second i have got a new cv loint and bottom ball joint do you think that will cure it or is it worse?????

Its best to get that knocking sorted sooner rather than later.

Seeing as the wobbling just appeared, it could be a balancing weight that has come off the wheel causing wobble.

The usual suspects to wheel wobble are:

    Warped brake discs
    Buckled wheels
    Deformed tyres
    Lower ball joint failure
    Front anti roll bar bushes
    Other suspension bushes
Possibly a defective cv joint or wheel bearing could cause it too

Get it checked soon as to on the safe side.

Well do you wanna get your hands dirty and look at it yourself.

If not you can call people out.

If it was me i would drive slowly on the quieter roads to a garage, but im not saying you shouln necesserily as i havnt felt the wobble

The way it came on graduly it sounds amongst other things that it could be a bulge apeared in a tire check inside and outside walls of the tire, then jack up one wheel at a time and spin it, see if it wobles or makes a noise. then pull it up and down and side to side to see if there is any play.

I knew a maneger at a "National Tires and Exhaustes", a customer took in a mercadies with a woble so he took it up the road to check it out, and the front suspention colapsed and he mashed the car and broke his leg! and he was experienced so be carefull.
