Question Aftermarket Central locking kits any good on a Nova 5 door hatch?

was thinking of DIY ing an aftermarket central locking kit into my car, its about £50 for all 4 doors for a 'full kit' so they claim, and should be able to wire up to my alram so it pops them all open when disarmed/reverse in armed.

anyone rate any kits, or is it just an un-necessary thing to do???

    Lee mate

    what kit did u use?
I have seen one from Microscan for about £50 i think for all my doors, whats is involved in their fitting..basically.....

obviously removal or door cards.....then what? do u need to do any drillinf etc to mount motors or do they clip/fix/bracket onto existing holes/mounts???

i am toying with the idea of this soon, but wanna know the basics....gotta take my passenger side front door card off 2moro to fit a new lock and barrel, so was gonna have a look inside to familiaise myself then....

    cant recall the name.
basically the motor gets attached to the door and it has a bar similair to a metal coat hanger coming of it.that gets attached to the original door locking rod.simple really.mine never went wrong in the time i had it.

    SMOOOOTH....... cheers mate.

think when my cash flow settles down a lil bit it might be a worthwhile investment then....

even tho my alarm aint a top level one you can get an interface for it so when i disarm the locks will all open.....

    sounds alright dont it....

do the door pins pop up when it opens as if u had pulled it up by hand, or is it best to remove them???

it'd be superb if i could get them to flush fit when locked, then pop up when unlocked....

i dont care about cenral locking on my boot, this is getting even more tempting now you have said its that easy mate...cheers Lee..

any more info let me know mate....

it works just like my central locking does.they pop up when undoing.you may be able to make em flush youd need to look not familar with novas.dont see why u couldnr remove them as they fix "behind" the door card.easy enough and an alarm interface will work it well did could of.

    nice one lee.....

    cheers mate......

I might try and do that soon if my money situation starts getting on the up!!!lmao

it aint gonna be an expensive job cos the fitting should be DIY, just hope the interface for the central locking to enable me to do the remote locking isnt too expensive...i will ask my mate who supplied the alarm to price it up at his work...

    fingers crossed.......

    cheers mate.....

thanks 4 taking the time to answer my questions and even try and source one 4 me...much appreciated

one quick question, if the master motor is in the drivers door, do the slave motors imply wire in circuit to that and then to the alarm???

    pukka..........cheers mate.....

the kit i was referring to is like on this site, they sell it at alot of local car parts places....supposed to be a good system

    http://www.direct-car-alarms.co.uk/a...ccessories.htm

it looks simple now u say it....

its almost tempting to de-lock my car after that!!!lmao

although my luck with the damn thing would be me stuck in the middle of nowhere and it fails and i either climb in thru the boot or wlak home! lol lmao

Doh that one on auction doesn't include remote.

I'm hopefully doing this to the saloon this weekend.

Dunno the name of the manufacturer but its sold by www.venommotorsports.com.

Includes a remote and 4 door locks for 50 quid.

I'll give you feedback of how it went on Monday.

I want to delock mine but for now disabling the locks will do.

    YEH MATE.......

cant find that kit on that website, but i intend to hook it up to the alarm on my car alarm so it will be remote central locking anyway on arm/disarm of the alarm.

lee mate.....did u have to buy a seperate interface when u fitted yours? i looked in the alarm box and i have wires to connect from the alram 'brains' to a central locking relay...but the cataloue from Demon Tweeks i have lists an interface from Microsacn (the producers of one of the most sold kits) for £22?!?!?

Sorry. it would help if i gave you the right web address.

    www.venommotorsport.com

The kit is actually 65 in remote.

I noticed the kit in demon tweeks but for me it would work out more expensive from them as i ain't too bothered about an alarm just yet.
