hi there i have just taken my v6 vectra for an mot it has failed on emissions at idle and co at idle please can anybody help me many thanks michael
They don't stick the temp probe in the oil anymore, just press yes it's hot enough.Dav1d said:Should say on the emissions sheet what the temp was, or what method they used to assume it was up to temp. (top hose hot etc).
Other than that, I'd say cat too.
Wind the afm screw out a couple turns. Allows found these like to run as close to limit as you can, or they surge slightly on light constant throttle.rhydgte said:Out of interest when my 2.0 8v non-cat is mot'd, if it fails the emissions what are the only causes for this that there can be??
FPR? Idle setting?
Where should this screw be set?C4llyT said:Wind the afm screw out a couple turns. Allows found these like to run as close to limit as you can, or they surge slightly on light constant throttle.
HC's would have been sky high if it was missing, as the CO was high, this would show up on test (as cat is not working).novacav said:engine oil temp was 80 they put a probe in dipstick
when i took it last week the coilpack gave up on the way there so was missing a bit it passed on idle then but failed on the faster test
So is 3% a realistic figure for mine too?C4llyT said:I always set mine at 3%, just adjust it on the gas analyzer.
Can't really tell on screw, and all engines will be a bit different.
If they had it hot enough it's new cat time. Saying that, mine was on fast idle til the final knockings way too high, then dropped like a stone. Don't know if its a tired cat or what, but some need to be really hot to pass.novacav said:yes the hc last time were 832 but this time fine at 66
