    Question you hav got to laugh

    lmao i have a 1998 v6 calibra my mate changed the alternator and the engine managment light came on after it was fitted so he spent 3 weeks trying to get it running right and for the light to go off but he had no joy so i sent it to the ppl that are ment to know every thing about vauxhalls vauxhall!!! they had it for two days i got a fone call saying we cant fix it the soft ware in your care is too complicated for are tech 1 to read we can do nothing!!! any one no what this means as i havnt a clue answers on a post card!!

    any ideas would really help as im stumped and i what to hear the v6 raw again!!!

    Did he unplug any sensors when fitting?
    Must have disturbed something, if it happened at exactly the same time?

    Either that or the 'new' alternator is knackered and the ECU has thrown up a voltage low or high code.
    Short pins A&B in the diag socket under the bonnet, rear passenger side, see what you get.

    the guy that fitted it took it all back apart and checked every thing he did and didnt find a thing the only code that is being bort up it 61 which is tank valve sumthing and wouldnt be causing the problems it has got

    iv handed the car over to a bloke vauxhall recomended the whole problem is that no one can get in to the ecu to see whats up with it the guy says he will hav a play and see what happens.what would vauxhall of ment by the soft wear was to complicated for them to read

    If you're only getting code 61, I can't see what you'll get from 'getting inside the ECU'.
    Is the ECU standard?

    Might be worth checking all hoses etc, an air leak on the inlet will make it run like poo.

    i got the car with most of the stuff on it so i dont no if it all stantard or not (ecu) the car is in limp home mode at the mo and i was feed up with trying to fix it so il let some one esle sort it but what i was most piss about was that vauxhall couldnt do any thing!! it could be sumthing simple or it cud be a fecked ecu im hoping it sum thing simple!!! if it was chipped would a tech one still read the ecu?

    I belive tech 1 wont like some chipped ECU's for starter.
    Why not reset the ECU and read the codes yourself?

    i live just out side of northampton in the middle of no were near lamport

    i havnt a clue when it cums to electrics on these thing there is 2 many things it could be so i just hav to pay sum one to sort!! i every thing else i can do as i hav a work shop just not electrics!!! so is there the posablity the ecu is chipped then do u think??

    if u mean disconecting the battery and leaving it yes the codes go way so u fire it up she purrrrrrs like a cat take it up the road and its runing spot on at this moment then goes back in to limp home mode with the light on !!! with the same code 61 no one can work it out and its been a month like this now
