fitting a rev counter to corsa b not sri/gsi

hey, i recently posted a thread about adding a rev counter, well i got one, and ive had a lopok and there is no wire for the counter on the loom, so ive got a wire and run it from the engine, everything is ok, apart from the fact that the erv counter waves a lot, like 1000 rpm, but does seem to react to revving the car, but wen i get to what i think would be the higher revs for the car, it starts to work kind of, it settles down and reacts like it should but seems to be about 2000 rpm short, but as soon as i change up it goes all weird again until the revs are really high again, what could cause this, how can i make it work?

    Cheers Chris
