    Question electrical nightmare

    i have recently fitted a 1991 cav sri 8v into my 1994 corsa gsi i had to cut mountings and i no longer have power steering but my main problem is the wiring loom i have 12 wires hanging from the car and the same from the ecu but i also have a purple relay for my fuel pump with 4 wires on. Any info will be much appreciated thanks.

    gotta be honest mate but switching from a 109bhp 16v to a 130bhp 2.0 8v seems a bit of a backwards step to me tbh, yer its got slightly more power but its gonna handle like ****e unless u spend a bit on the suspension etc

    as for the wiring its mostly color to color but if u list the colors u have on each end we'll try n help

    i can see your point but i needed a new engine and got a complete car for £200. i'll check the wires and list the colours tommorow thanks for your help.

    yep i couldn't do anything with it it also tapped like a fiesta.

    here are the wires if anyone can help thanks
    off the loom i have:
    thin wires - blue and black
    blue and red
    black and green
    brown and yellow
    brown and white
    brown and black
    brown and blue
    red and white
    blue

    thick wires - red and blue

    and from the car
    thin wires - brown and blue
    blue
    green
    blue and red
    brown and white
    brown and yellow

    thick - red
    black
    red and blue

    coming from the back of the car, could be fuel pump, 2 thin black wires

    ok mate you'll need to tell me what car the engines out of?

    you also appear to have wires missing from the engine?

    there seems to be no permenant live (red) on the engine loom and no ignition live (black), are these perhaps in the engine bay somewhere?

    the car wires make sense but the engine side doesnt...

    brown and blue - engine management light, should goto brown/blue on XE loom
    blue - coolant temp again to blue on xe loom
    green - tacho feed, again green on xe llom
    blue and red - vehicle speed sender input from car to ecu, probably not needed
    brown and white - ecu diag plug wiring, match to ecu
    brown and yellow - as above
    red - permenant live
    black - ignition live
    red and blue - fuel pump

    seen as u seem to have no red or black from the engine loom even if u did match up all the wires u hve u still wouldnt get it started

    i think they normally have a round plug under the bonnet somewhere on XE's with those extra cables in

    cheers.it's a 2.0 8v engine out of a j (1991) cav sri. there is a round plug in the engine bay but not sure wot colour wires on it i'l have to check. any idea about the 2 thin black wires comin from the back of the car

    thanks for the info i matched the wires and got life i still got a few spare wires on the loom and on the plug in the engine.
    spare on the loom i have
    black/brown
    red/white
    black /blue
    spare on the plug i have
    blue/green
    blue/white
    black/red
    and a black sensor going to the injector rail.
    i connected black/red to black on the loom but the engine turns over when the igition lights come on.
    so i connected black/red to red and the engine turns constant even without a key then i tried blue /white to the 2 individually on loom but nothing. i also cant get a spark. any idea wot goes where. thanks[/QUOTE]
