    very urgent help needed

right, my car was tapping so i took it to a garage to have a look at and there was no oil in the car only a tiny black splodge on the very bottom of the dip stick (bearing in mind i bought the car from a dealer on monday) he fills the oil up and the taps gone. i drive home and engine management light comes on and stays on, the car then starts spluttering. any ideas what this is? i think either oil pressure or mabe fuel filter/injectors are blocked or something?

Sounds like the oil could be going somewhere it shouldn't. Have you checked the oil level since?

I'd just take it straight back and have a refund.

right the light has gone off, and ive just topped the oil back up, gave it a big rev and blue oil smelling smoke was coming out from around the manifold/block area but only on 6k+ rpm, the level is a little bit over so would this be burning that excessive oil off or just normal?

Doesn't sound like it would make a 2 hour trip.

I think by law all traders have to stand over a car they have sold for a min of 3 months... I'd be trying anyway... 2 hours isnt alot lad.

Blocked Oil filter i'd check first.
Reving the bollocks off it is going to achive fack all.

I would change the filter, drain the oil, give it a flush out, refil it. And see how it runs.

Reving a car at 6k is the quickest way to blow up street.

The only other ting you could do is to ring them up, tell um its feked and that they will be collecting it and fixing it.

    Dont ask, tell them.
    Hope this helps

If you start tinkering with it, they may say you caused the problem, so id try to get them to sort/replace/refund it first.

cheers for all your help, the brakes kind of failed on thursday evening which led to me swerving to avoid traffic and wrapping it round a lamp post and writing it off

I can't believe this! Please can you do us all a favour and name/shame the dealer you bought the death trap from!!!!!!

Don't slag them off as it maybe seen in a bad light by Trading Standards and obviously the slander point. But I would certainly like to know who these clowns are and how they managed to get an MOT on that!

How did the brakes "fail"? did the pedal hit the floor or something?
Like above, get onto trading standards and get them reported!!!

park view motors in huddersfield is where i bought the car from. my dad rang them and told them what happened and theyve said nothing.
i pressed the rbakes and nothing happened for a couple of seconds then it locked up, too late by then, had to swerve to miss a volvo n hit the lamp post. i reckon it had an air lock in the system or something?

if i got trading standards involved what would happen? as i was speeding a little bit and i dont particularly want the police to get involved and measure the skid marks?

    A 'little' bit speeding?
Just think next time someone may be killed due to this garage.
