    Perished Ventilation Hose? (56k warning)

Ever since last friday when I bought my Astra, I have noticed that when the engine is warm, there is this kind of oily smell in the cabin coming through the air vents on the dash.

Decided tonight to take off the spark plug cover thing and do a bit of investigation, I think I have found the cause of the problem:

The part number on the hose is 90529869, which EPC lists as a Ventilation Hose - Cylinder Head Cover to Air Cleaner Elbow Hose (hose marked in green on the diagram):

Seeing as the area where the leads are on the cylinder head bit and the front passenger side corner of the engine block is covered in a sort of dried on oil, am I to assume this is the cause of the oily smell in the cabin?

Sorry for the pic quality - taken on my phone earlier tonight with my trusty torch...

Engine is X14XE in a 97/P reg mk3 Astra by the way.

Yeah! I remember when I had a Corsa B with the X12XE engine (1.2 16v) the same hose on that engine used to get clogged up with crap was kind of an off yellow colour substance then eventually I had to replace the hose as it started to get all squidgy for want of a better word, no doubt if I left it, it would have had the same fate as the hose on my Astra!

Well I will pick up a new hose from Vauxhall on saturday, today I'm getting a timing belt kit and fan belt fitted by a local garage! My poor wallet! lmao

Yeah I changed the hose earlier tonight but tomorrow at some point I will give it a good clean! It's all down the side of the engine too, looks like it's been like that for ages and the previous owner couldn't be bothered to sort it?
