Help Needed! Ignition problem KO'd car!

Guys,
my Calibra has just broken down on me. The engine rotates but will not start and none of the spark plugs are firing. The RAC bloke said it could be a sensor gone wonky cos it wasnt getting the signal to the management system.
Any ideas?????

p.s. just b4 it stalled on me the engine was very irractic - as though it kept getting flooded and wasnt really responding to the accelerator pedal....???

Cheers guys............
