GTE Hub......What other VX shares the same hub?

Replaced my o/s bearings today only to find that the bearings are ok and that the hub is somehow damaged, theirs about 1/2" of play in it even with the new bearings. never seen or heard of anything like this before but somehow my car (which by the way HATES ME) has managed it.
So being that their is not a single valver being broken any where within my reach (i need to collect and fit it by tomorow pm) im wondering what else i might be able to nick the part from, was thinking cav Gsi or similar? anyone got any idea's?

Thanks in Advance Gord.

Cone shaped probably

They go like that when run loose for a while.

Any big block Pre 1996 Astra 2/3, Cavalier/Calibra will fit.

I editted my reply up to, to add big block.

I've never had cause to look at small block cars, so dunno if they are the same.

Re: GTE Hub......What other VX shares the same hub?

MarkT. if you have noted my location you must have read my CV Joint thread. the problem with that is that the thread is completley nackard and the bolt will just slip onto it, at the moment the wheel is only being held on by a split pin and the bolt which in effect is just like a big washer; so im hoping that once the CV Joint has been replaced (tomorow) the hubs will be ok for a while... i mean ive been driving it for 4 weeks since its been back on the road without any problems so another week probably wont hurt.

What im getting at is how much do you want for the pair inc P&P.

Re: GTE Hub......What other VX shares the same hub?

lol, not read the CV joint thread, I did have one of them too, but James Mcbride had it when his Vectra snapped the threaded end off his driveshaft!!

Only saw further up u said Bexhill.

They are 1.7kg each so not postage friendly

Got a V6 Cav CV joint here actually, with a bit of the tubular drivshaft.

You realise you'll knacker the new bearings taking the hubs out?

Re: GTE Hub......What other VX shares the same hub?

MarkT. the bearings will probably be ok as i will do that job at work where we have an actual bearing press (i work at a citroen dealership) and if it does nacker them then i will just get some more, whats another £18 on a car that just seems to be able to absorb money lol

p.s... not sure about how much things cost for P&P but would be really interested in the hubs you have. it's going to be a real hassel getting some from a scrappy around here,

could look into gettin some from VX i mean how do you think they will cost?

Re: GTE Hub......What other VX shares the same hub?

When you press the hub out, the bearing race will come out with it, damaging the grease seal.

You won't ever get the grease seal back in as it will be deformed as it is forced out.

You could run it without the grease seal but there's little to stop grit an water getting into the bearings.

2 Hubs will cost £7.20 Standard Parcel. you can have them for that.

Hubs are shed loads from Vauxhall.
I bought one at full retail for my V6 at £70 !!!

A CV joint kit from Vaux is £30.90 Trade Club price, if you take a MK3 Astra one.
