Exclamation spongy brakes!!

ive fitted some 24mm x 256mm vented brakes to my nova sr. i think they were either off a mk4 astra or a vectra (the discs are 4stud).

the problem is that they dont have the initial bite i thought they would have. they are very spongy but then do work pretty well when you brake harder.

not sure what the problem is. they are completely bedded in now.

i was thinking maybe the servo or master cylinder need changing?!? if its master cylinder, do i need to go bigger or smaller?? hydraulics confuse me?!?!?

thanks for any help in advance

Re: spongy brakes!!

are you sure they are bled totally? sounds like a llittle air could still be in the lines.

another thing you could do is to source a nova gte/gsi master cylinder and servo unit as they are bigger and fit that. that will help a lot

Re: spongy brakes!!

As stupid as this might sound, make sure you've got em on the right way up, the bleed nipple should point upwards, otherwise you'll never get all the air out when you bleed them.

Re: spongy brakes!!

yeah air in the system make sure you blead the furthest caliper away frm the master cylinder 1st and work to the closest, does that make sense?
