so thursday afternoon i took the cavalier for a bit of a thrash. the first one since i got it back after an electrical fault about a week ago. it was just like i remembered it being, except with more rattles
when i got to my destination, i parked up, set the alarm (new, fitted at sextons in pompy clifford 300 system last thursday) and left the car for about 6 hours.
when i got back i started the car but when i started it up i had the following problems......
no abs light on ( i have an abs fault again so fuse removed, should be on all the time)
battery light on
no rev counter
no engine management light (but car starts and drives as usual)
no fuel gauge (or read out on the trip computer, read F)
my power invertor (for the ps2) buzzes low voltage when turning left!!!???
the only fuse i could find blown was the ciggarette lighter, and i checked the fan belt and have done an alternateor and battery test and they are both fine....
so again i call on all your knowledge, can anyone suggest where i look?
proberbly the alarm install ive been shocked at some of the so called professional installers handy work and had to red o it my self properly. sounds like the dash is shorting out some were or a lose connection
silly point, but have you checked the battery connections are tight, and have you checked the engine earth? it seems to have all symtems of an earth prob, and the battery must have been disconnected for the alarm and other bits
i didnt think that fuse two would have any connections to any of that? ill chuck one in tommorrow and let u know how i get on.
