    MK3 Dash into MK2 Astra

I know a couple of you have done this.
What did you do with the heating?

I've blanked 1 of the Screen vent outlets on the heater box, and the cold air outlet.

So my Centre Vents will now be for show only.

Has anyone managed to keep the centre vents? or better still got temperature controlled air from them?

I'm thinking I could unblank the spare screen vent outlet and maybe route that round and hook up the centre vents?

The MK3 Dash Vent chamber is common the whole length of the dash, so that one is spare.

I asked Haynzee about dash fitting before, but he'd forgot what they did.

The MK3 Dash does have two vent connections, just you don't need both, so I blanked the one that was awkward to get at.

The MK2 has a separate chamber for either side.

I made the mistake first of all, cutting the dash where it fouled the GTE dash mount on the steering wheel bracket.

Glued that back in when I realised why it was hollow!!

    Chiselled off the bracket then!!

I was hoping the MK3 Dash would mount like the MK2, but as soon as I took the MK2 one out.. Oh Fook, that aint the same!!

Still the main dash is in, albeit secured at either side only at the moment.

Just hoping the Centre Console etc. will fit OK!

from what i remember, it fitted reasonably easily, drill new holes in the bulkhead and bolt it in, as per the mk3, the heaters i just left set to "hot" and piped them so the screen got the hot air

if he's too hot he can open the window

And what, exactly, is wrong with the Mk2 dash?
    They're there, in their room.

mark, are you using the mk3 heater box and blowers or just the mk2?

You cant use the mrk3 blowers box you have to mod the mrk2 item...the dash is fairly easy to fit only hard parts are getting heater system. controls all the the electric switchs straight forward ...

MK3 Heater box was an option but you'd need to redrill the bulk head at least.
Someone has done it, either here or cavweb.

Dunno why your fan doesn't work properly, mine works fine (4 position so 4 is wired to 3 as well)

Dash is a Senator Item yes.

I wanted a Black Dash to bin the Tobacco brown Original, MK3 was easier to find.

My Heater will work as Original I hope!!, not fitted the Heater panel yet.

had another look at the bulkheads mounts, and although I've drilled holes the bolts don't reach into the engine bay!

    Dash wasn't straight forward.
    Here's a How To so far: http://82.34.51.160/sytemsandsoftwar...torLCDDash.htm

a mate abt 5 years ago put a mk3 dash into his v6 mk2 van. hes a wizzard with a welder and he welded the mk3 bulkhead section (where the hole is) into his mk2 and then used all the mk3 heaters. he did say for a temp measure he used half the heater box of a mk2 and the other from mk3 and mated the 2 together.

I just drilled new holes in the dash for the side mounts, and with the Bulkhead studs in the drilled holes it held in very securely.

I have issues with the Centre console now though.
The angle where it should join the dash is very different to that of the dash, so it looks like I've pulled in the bottom of the dash too far.
But if I let the bottom out, then big gaps appear between the sides of the dash and the A pillars.

Not looked too much into the centre console since.
May need cutting down to sit lower on the exhaust tunnel.

The Clio Seats I've fitted sit rather close to the handbrake which makes me think the the floor pan is narrower on the MK2 than the MK3. so I might not even be able to fit the centre console at all.
    We'll see.......

Jit, you will have problems with the centre console then. ive got a 8v cabbie and hated the 8v centre consoles (where the tape holders sit). i managed to get a 16v console to fit eventually with alot of f*cking around, modifying gear stick and adjusting the gear linkage to stop gearstick hitting the console whilst putting it in 2nd and 4th! the position of the mark 3 consoles will be similar to to the mk2 16v consoles as the gear linkage runs inside the car where as the 8 valvers sit underneath.
i really want to do a mk3 conversion to finish the car off and i cant get all the bits i need for £30 but i am really unsure on the heater situation. how did you get on mark with that mark? ive a feeling that the heater box in the 8v is prob diff from the 16v
