I was just wondering what the consensus is on the Olympics?
I personally think it's a commercialised, boring, waste of money. And yet another event / investment in that London!
Give a ****
Don't give a ****

Not gonna bother watching but then I'm gonna be working there for most of it anyway. Gonna be fun try to get in and out of London.
Roll on Billing 2013, it will not rain again!!

Couldnt care less tbh.
Couldnt care less. Waste of money.
Most people i know that live in london have moved out to freinds or family outside of london and are renting their houses out at ridiculous rates during the games
Oh and being forces i have been told not to book a holiday or go anywhere this year after G4S F*"k up we are on standby
Cheers Olympics hurry up and Pi** off
Coming soon 3.2 V6 With Nitrous
i have two views on it...
first is i like my sports and will enjoy watching some of the events and with luck we might do well in some.
Second, it has gave me a bit of work with the run up to it, we have been doing twilight pictures for companies with the olympic logo on the side of the building or truck done by a projector.
As for all the build up to the olympics, a lot of that is OTT.

OC asked for something like 5,000 people for security and G4S got it, then OC upped it to 12,000+ to cover sickness ect and G4S said 'no problem' even though a time limit was on it. Now due to Screening and lack of uniforms its not going to happen so go with plan B and ask for help from the army.
The cock-up shall cost G4S a lot of money.

Touch comes thru my town today, for all of 5mins. It's two runners, neither i believe to be locals. Council have been out cutting, cleaning, rebuilding everything that's close to the route to tart the town up.. Massive waist of money.

I dare any of you to tell me you wouldn't let this upstanding young citizen slob on your knob like corn on the cob.
Costing G4S circa £50 million!
Been working down the Army temporary occommation in Chigwell past few weeks. Chatting to the squaddies down there and to say there mostly in surprisingly good spirits considering most have have their leave cancelled.

I'm not overly interested, but I hope it puts GB in a good light. Would rather we had a massive cash injection and a few more hospitals or something really.
As for the security, I guess we pay the Army 24/7 anyway so it's going to be one hell of a training exercise and probably a fairly interesting one. Should have used them from the start?
They're there, in their room.
I must be the only one to vote 'do care' at the moment then!
I won't really be watching it as it's not my bag, but it's great that it's in Britain for numerous reasons. Also it's well liked by millions of people and there cannot be a single sporting event in it that's as boring as F1.
Schizophrenia and jealousy are terrible things.
I dont know how we can afford to host it to be honest
The Torch is just passing within about 10 meters of my house. I could go on a 3-4 minute walk to watch it. CBA.
They're there, in their room.
Had a massive concert in the field next to my house on wednesday with a big beacon being lit.
Couldnt be bothered with it and just strolled over at 10pm for the free fireworks display. Massive ammount of money spent by Wiltshire council there, but for some strange reason they can only afford to collect my bins once a fortnight?
I'm not really bothered about it at all.
I will watch some of the big events, but other than that I will hardly be glued to the TV.
They are playing a few football games up here in Scotland and are now giving away the tickets to school kids as nobody wants them.
With the country in the financial position it is, it just seems too much and the fact it is London the majority of the facilities paid for by the tax payer are a very long way away.
Sometimes people have to realise that there is places outside London.
lol...we asked about this as it was a huge argument about what logos and that we could use, LOCOG sent us all the bits and paperwork even wording on what we can put on web sites ect, while i was reading it i was in my mates bakers who has olympic rings on some of his cakes and you can also get 5 doughnuts on the ring formation, he looked at it and said, my tax money is in this, i going to lose it so let them sue me.
We have asked and said the rings are pure white or blue so not like the main logo, we was told its fine if we 'donate' funds to a local sport council which we have done.
To be honest its a real ball ache sorting it as not many nights have been clear or dry for the photos.

The atmosphere around London will be electric. I can't wait! I also love the Olympic games regardless of where it is, so I definitely do give ****.
Got a few tickets too. Female weightlifting here we come!!

It's a bunch of killjoys on MIG!
I can see how it would be a god atmosphere in London but for me, up here in the "arse end of nowhere" I really, really couldn't give a ****.
Me either. I switched off when people like McDonalds/Subway/Mars/Coca Cola began associating themselves with athletes and sport in general. Plus, being the host nation, it's been news report after news report condeming the security, GB squad, transport, blah blah blah.
Good luck to the squad and all that but all the guff going on around it has been worn out I think.
