I'd probably phone NHS direct instead of asking on a car forum, as I'd recommend string and a car battery out the window as a similar treatment.

As Paul said, last time I had a wisdom tooth giving me a crushing pain, almost like I was going to pass out, but NHS A&E did not want to know, instead gave me an emergency dentist number who rang me 6 hours later when the first wave of pain had gone! Pretty useless when it comes to problems with tooth ache, pain is caused by root infection, tackling infection with antibiotics can arrest the pain but ultimately filling is the long term answer.

I went to my dentist Friday. massive hole in my wisdom tooth.

Wanted to remove it, thought sod it as was off out later.

Titan i asked as i thought there might be a dentist amongst us that might have been able to help!

having gone into dentist with NO pain he used some cotton wool and some sort of dry tooth paste like filler, never said anything about drying period or when to eat or not to eat

tried to eat a litte something as i was just back from work (went to dentist first) and did it not bloody hurt! and i am sure some of his combo has fallen out

The string option sounds preferable to A&E in my opinion but I would point out that the local hospital for myself is Stepping Hill where people were being killed with tampered saline drips.

I think I read that the saline was injected with adrenaline or something? God knows what it results in but I bet it's not as funny as feeding a cat a packet of 'Fizz Whizz' popping candy.
