How about linking it in with the Home forum so it's like 'Home and lifestyle' or something?

Hmmm - think it would be good as there is lots of chat about food/booze - BUT there isn't exactly a stampede of new posts in OT that need dividing down?

Just make all these a sub-forum of off-topic that isn't too visible from the main page

That way it's still a car forum, first and foremost... but there's more if you go looking!

    Yep.

I don't think anyone can complain about any sub forum as long as it doesn't detract from the look of the site!

    Re: Food & Drink Area???

a food section? no ta, this site should be about cars, and the stuff we do in or to them, and a good resource for technical help, not a smorgasboard(see the food reference there!) to satisfy every whim or fleeting hobby people get, for me, all those posts can go in off topic, they do not need their own sub forum, as the topic on here is cars! i posted in one of the home improvement ones just to see how dead it is and guess what, tumble weed zone, this site will not get back to its halcyon days by dilution imo

On scoobynet or pistonheads maybe, not on a site this small. We should be looking at reducing the number of sub forums, not increasing them. One new post a day doesn't need a forum.

I'm not a paying member at the moment but agree with Tathan .... if there are too many sub forums most people just aren't going to read them .
The Vectra site is a lot busier than here and they have lots of sub sections but they hardly get used , people just use the main two areas .. off topic and Vectra chat .
I canny invest in ya and for that reason , I'm oot .

i thought his pheasant video was excellent, did enjoy that. Doesn't need to be in a separate area though, nobody would have seen it then!

here we go....it was more the way you put it lee, yes the site has gone crap and some new plans would be good to get more people in.
all i see in threads now are hot links to ebay and spammers now sending emails to private address.
anyone over the past few months who comes up with a slight plan to get more users is blasted.

    Re: Food & Drink Area???

i’m not knocking you for trying to add users though? merely saying diluting mig from its core, which is cars, even if some of the mods don’t actually seem to be into cars lately, in my opinion will not work, i use this site quite a lot, and feel i contribute a fair amount, even if i don’t pay for membership, and in that respect i thought i’d give be well placed to give my opinion, don’t take it so personally
