To brew is simple, but you must clean and sterilise everything you use as a golden rule. you can get steralising powder from most brew shops, chemists ect.
If using a can of malt extract from a brew shop, open the top and stand in some boiled water for about 10 mins to sofen it up.
Tip the brew sugar into the brew barrel, then tip in the extract, add 3 ltrs of boiling water and stir till all disoved, then add 22 ltrs of cold water and stir, put on lid and air lock and stand in a warm place.
Next day the brew should be at room temp, add the yeast and the stir again in 5 mins.
Leave to brew for about 5 - 7 days, you will see when it stops brewing by using a hydrometer (can be talked about later) or watch the surface and no bubbles should be rising.
Get you glass bottels and again, clean, sterilise and rinse.
Put half a tea spoon of caster sugar in each bottle, this will help priming (second brew in bottle for fizz and head)
sython the beer from the barrel into the bottels (don't suck the crap up off the bottom)
Cap the bottles and store in a warm place for 3 - 4 days then move to a cool place for 10 days (3 months would be much better)
then......drink
so in total to start it will cost you £45 - £50 after that each brew will cost about £20.
When you get in to using raw ingredience you will find it much cheaper but a lot harder to work with.
