Such a shame. It could/should have been Gary Neville.

42 yet he was till playing in the Premiership 3 years ago and the Championship a year ago. He was always playing since I first became interested in football.

I feel for the person who walked in and found him hanging, what a soul-destroying, life f*cking-up moment that would be. It's an extremely selfish act but I suspect people in that situation aren't thinking with logic?

A bloke down the road found his dad hanging in his house. I don't understand why anyone would do this, but apart from everything, deserves no credit for doing it that way.

If he was suffering from depression it does take you to some very dark places. Selfish yes. But when you are in the grip of an illness like that as has been mentioned logic doesn't come into it. I went through this in 2007/2008. Horrible place to be. It is all speculation of course as nothing has come out yet.

I will say he did look a little bit distracted on the footage in the studio sat next to Gary McCallister. Body language gave subtle hints to not being completely at ease.

Very, very sad loss though. Never read or heard anything bad about the guy and he was a proper trooper as a player.

I think he found the ultimate goal post too soon, and went for it, now, not in sick way am I saying that, his family and friends said he had no worries, or any relationship problems, and everyone seems to think it is a total mystery, as I said, he found the way to heaven much too soon, God belss him!
