Why not get one of those 'camping gaz' heaters for the time being? I had one, they're really good at heating a garage and are cheap.

How big is the garage Nemesis?

If its for keeping you warm, have a look at the halogen / infrared type of heaters as they tend to heat objects rather than the air around them.
Pointless heating large areas of cold air in a draughty garage.
The best alternative is a split airconditioning unit which can provide heat a lot more efficiently and cheaply than an electric / gas one. They will keep you warm in the winter, cool in the summer and have the advantage of being able to dehumidify as well.

If I read some of the specs right on the semi decent split air conditioners, you can get 7Kw of heat out for 2.5Kw of electricity in.
Could be totally wrong as its been a while since I dabbled in the aircon market but well worth investigating.

Best thing to do would be 'tap' your electricity meter and just leave some electric heaters on*

Just skipped thruough the thread asap, but im +1 on hali/infrared heaters, i have 2 fitted on the garage walls, about 1200w each..... they definetly heat you more then the air, i can feel them burning me if i stay in its light too long! mine give out a lot of heat too after been on a while... theres a noticable difference from outside!
And yep the thing on the aircon is correct, i have a 2.4kw cooling unit which supplys 6.8-7kw of heat when the pump is reversed........ your just aircon'ing the world really though and using the pumps heat.
If your garage is pretty well sealed you might prefer the aircon way, it will regulate a set tempurate, where as the hali heaters for something drafty as they stay on all of the time
Halogen heaters is guna be the cheapest upfront cost though
make one, look at turk burner on youtube, use a gas canister its easy.

Vectra B Saloon 2.6
Renault Kangoo C20XE On bike carbs (yes you read that correct, no its not finished yet)
Make one +1
use an oil boiler internals like below
Worcester Dansmoor Oil Boiler Burner and Control Box | eBay
mount it and have it blowing into the garage 50/50 mix engine oil and parrafin will work a treat
or it will explode destroying you and the garage![]()
If at first you dont succeed... CHEAT!
is that why the air going outside is ICE cold.... and the pumps run in REVERSE...... few hints there
it doesnt dump COLD and WARM air in to the room, just the heat. exhuasts the chilled <<< so you are airconing the world
i did say it pushes in the heat from the pump
best idea yet!
I'm lost with this air con thing.
