How much do you pay for your unit?

Just been to view a unit today for business use.

Just looking for opinions from other's renting, And something to compare it to pricewise. Looked online and there is nothing advertised within 30miles of home.

Found this one by chance today (pics to follow). Its about a mile from my house, Measures 30ft x 25ft, Has electric strip lighting, six power points and water, room for a few cars if required although i only need it for one or two, and 24hr access.

Interested to see what others are renting and what its costing them. Mine will be payed for through the business as it offers plenty of storage, Access for pallet collections and a dry place to package items for dispatch. Perks will be storage for my track car through the winter and room to work on a new project.

    £300 pcm, Inc business rates.

    Sounds small.

I have a 2000 sq ft unit, built about 10 years ago on a new estate.

Big office, kitchen, toilet etc. £400 per month.

Rates are free and the moment till September 2012.
For the love of God, please read the rules

£40 a month, that stores upto 3 cars and I have racking space too. Its not a rateable unit though. The building its connected too is where I work and the rates on that are around 75k a year.... Ouch

£300 sounds alright if your running a business from there tbh

considering that sounds all above board and on the books etc and including rates, that doesnt sound too bad to me.

Re: How much do you pay for your unit?

Sounds a good price really. I rent mine of the local community partnership (like what chamber of commerce used to be) and its £500 a month inc insurance (when its due rates are about £100 a month.

Size wise its about 16m x 9m and ive put a mezzanine up to cover approx 5m x 9m

Very dependant on where you are in the country of course, I know people near london with units of a similar size that are well over a grand including rates.

Re: How much do you pay for your unit?

When i heard "25ft x 30ft" I though it sounded small. But once inside its actually bigger than i need. Owner is sound about me racking it out, Painting it and using the roofspace and all does sound above board.

I know of people paying less, Like on a "mates" farm, or their Grans outbuildings etc, but for business use and due to the closeness to home this ones actually quite attractive.

If i wanted to purely store cars in there i could get 6 medium sized motors in there, But im just looking for some office space, Storage, a worksurface, An area to take photographs and enough room to work on a car with the doors open-able.

Anyone got pictures of what they rent?

Thanks. Nice unit you have there, (and cheap up north) Mines about the same size, just not as tidy. Il get it swept out and post some pics. Got to admit, there are probably better one's out there, but they do seem few and far between. For a nicer floor, a boarded ceiling or other luxuries i could end up travelling a right mission daily. With this one just around the corner its ideal.

Thinking i may either board the joists, or build a prefab office in the corner, to save heating the whole lot in the winter.

Do you reckon its worth getting him to agree a fixed rate contract? Its just i dont want to add value to it just for him to bump the price up.

Also spoke to him today about hi-abing cars away and thats no problem either.

I was offered a railway arch last month, ****ing huge thing, bloke next door had 27 cars inside his.

    £50 per week plus bills.

Only downsides were lack of security and the heroine addicts living on the old platform above (needles everywhere!) lmao

Re: How much do you pay for your unit?

    Well i took it on....

Paid a month up front theother day and have been sourcing bits to go in there. Not moving in until its sorted as i want to paint it, build a worksurface, rack it out and build an office in the corner.

Its amazing what you can get for free. So far i have a new interior door and a window for the office, sh*t loads of used timber, a desk and a load of work-tops. All of which would have cost hundreds.
