    "Last price"

Can anyone explain to me when people started asking for a "last price" when buying something from you? Specifically Asians it seems, I've had 3 calls about a car that says "no offers", the first thing they ask is what the "last price" is. I then ask them if they've read the advert, to which they reply yes... but apparently it's still in their nature to want a "last price"

It's the same as the first price. The same as the cash price, the same as the price you pay if you travel 500 miles to pick something up.

    Seriously wtf

I don't want to live on this planet anymore

    Re: "Last price"

Why not just add a bit on the price and let people knock you down to your no offer price.
People like to feel they've got money off, makes perfect sense to me.

True, but it's just the fact I'd rather deal with people who don't want to haggle in the first place

I just put the phone down.

I put most things up now with no offers.

Its the price I want, not open to offers.

Because they phone the cheap ones, regardless of whether offers are invited or not.

What the **** does last price mean? It's not a dutch auction.

Don't even get me started on the accent. I might be setting my standards too high but 5 out of the 5 phone calls I've had were from people who had a poor grasp of English.

doubly annoying is when you wont shift on the asking price, at all, so the the buyers start haggling into the 10 and 20 quid region or "full tank of petrol" or "cover my train fair"

What I quite like to do is if it says "£300 no offers" I like to offer £297, just to see how serious they are.

    Re: "Last price"

I dont let it bother me anymore. Sell thousands of used car parts worldwide each year and get at least 10 of those questions everyday.

What is your buy it now price?...... "Sorry you must be mistaken, this is an auction"

How much do you want for it?....... "How much do you want to pay? "

Will you take £££ for it?....... "Yes thats no problem, If you cant collect in person then you will of course need to enter £££ as your maximum bid..... Good luck"

What is your besssst cheapesssst postage option to my country?..... "Sorry all items need to be tracked which is of course very costly"

    Re: "Last price"

Also when asked "would you take £££ for the car"

I find it best to say "Surely you would want to view the vehicle before making an offer" ?

'How much will you knock off because I live miles away and it'll cost me a lot of money in petrol?'

'**** all, find one nearer to you or pay me my asking price'.

8Valvecraig is right. I always say now that I'll listen to offers but I'll only take people seriously if they're stood in front of me with cash in their hands.

TBF most of the **** you put for sale is over priced hence people try to put an offer in.

If it was reasonably priced then they would just pay asking figure.

When selling my Astra on gumtree the standard opening question was usually 'What is the lowest price you will take for it?'

My reply was always 'What is the most you are willing to pay for it?'

Also fun to say "as stated in the advert" as many times as possible when answering their questions....
