What a wanker, maybe in some respects it's better it's happened as the boss is obviously a complete **** house. Hope you find something soon, V, hopefully the office job will come up and you'll get extra hours.

    Re: Fired again...

bit bad, is the pub run by a large brewery as getting sacked for looking for another job is, as i would put.....a very big no-no on the managers side, you could get some compo out of this.

how long have you been there as it needs to go VERBAL------WRITTEN--------DICIPLINERY unless youve been there less than the probation time stated on your job aggrement then they can get rid of you and not even have to give you a reason

    Re: Fired again...

I've never seen a contract of employment that lists as one of the clauses for what constitutes gross misconduct "considering another employment option outside of the company"

As per above, I would be amazed if that was legal if you were on any sort of formal contract with a large brewery.

Send a letter higher up the chain demanding some compensation for unfair dismissal. Advise you are taking legal advice on the matter, then call some no-win-no-fee scumbag lawyer if you get no joy from them. If they're a big enough outfit they might just pay you to go away.

CAB would be a better first place to approach than a no-win-no-fee lawyer IMHO

    Yeh, get down the CAB.

But, do learn from this. The minute you talk about 'another job',it won't go down well, especialy in whats considered a highturn over industry.

Rather than the suggestions of just looking straight for compo. Go back and talk to the boss. If there is no reasoning with the dick, THEN take it further.

I may be wrong (often am) but until you have worked somewhere for a year they can let you go with no reason....

    Re: Fired again...

How long does your contract state you were working probation? If you were outside this, then he cannot just fire you, unless you commit gross misconduct, which as Chip said, this is certainly not.

I'm thinking though this is some cash in hand job, and therefore there's no paperwork whatsoever? Am I right? In which case, suck it up.

    Re: Fired again...

Haha @ suck it up. Cheers dudes. Started as cash in hand but should be proper contract now but not materialised. Friends were in last night and after a lot of story changing the bar man came clean and said was down to hours and as my contract not sorted i was easiest to bin. Owed a month of tips so going after them and will leave it if get them. If don't then will look at what can do from point of view that they should have been deducting tax etc. Working right now in mates pub - 15 drunk unemployed men - nice!Inverview at nice pub later - where i won't get murdered or groped lol

This is correct. Probationary period is meaningless I'm afraid regardless of what people will make you believe. Your employer can legally terminate your employment within the first year without any comeback.
