Got clamped today! took it off myself am i going to prison?

Right i got clamped today parked on privet land/car park while i popped in the bank which the bank is attached to! so i was 2-3 mins max! what i didn't see was this old escort estate hiding in the corner of the car park, so as soon as i got out the car this guy must of ran over badly fitted this home made clamp(not kidding) as i returned to the car he was just getting up from my wheel.

i tried being all nice asking him to take it off because he knew i was only 2 mins but no got to pay £140 for him to put the key back in and unlock it! so i decided to take it off myself while he sat in his car watching.

called a mate got him to bring some tools down.. the clamp which was just a triangle slab of steel with a chain welded to it was was just wrapped round the strut of my car and padlocked so i unbolted the strut from the knuckle took the chain off put my car back together and drove off lmao he told me i wouldn't get it off lmao

so whats likely to happen to me now? i didn't damage his clamp and left it where he could see it lol

Many are chancers and try it on, would never take it further.
Maybe an urban myth, but thought you were ok removing them as long as don't do any damage.

did you get a notification stuck to your car as a clamp is only a deterant?

did you know the area was private parking?

ask your local council if it was a legal parking area.

there are signs up saying you will be clamped ect lol i wouldn't let him put the ticket on my car but he got it on when i turned round.

I rang the police and asked them about legally clamping me but they weren't very helpful he had the licence. I told them i was going to take it off myself lol

police will do nothing as its not up to them it council matters.
if the signs are ther take pictures of them to make sure the wording is correct..if all is correct then you have to pay the fine..sorry to say.

you have to look at where you parked first off, it it was private ground rented or owned by someone else then yes you will be fined, i would be pissed off if you parked on my ground and ****ed off shopping else where why i paid for your car to sit there.

the law is put place for clamping that is illegal and not ones that are proper run business/deterant.

most businesses can't afford to spend all day walking around there car parks looking for people taking spaces up and have to pay a fee/charge to companies to do this.

if he slap a ticket on you..forget the clamp..the ticket is the main part.

Sticly speaking the ticket is only a 'breach of assumed contract though' which is a civil matter. If you ignor it theres nothing they can do apart from SCC which they won't do as you would win.

Not condoning, the last place I lived had a shared car park and people from the hospital used to fill the car park meaning we couldnt park, however the laws the law.

im on about private ground..not yellow lines on the road chappy..lol
i have parked on lines outside banks ect and got away but i draw a line to parking in permit or private areas as its not worth the risk, i have a studio with 10 parking spaces road facing, i pay for them and its close to shops, if i have a customer turn up and can't park then the nearest place is right down the road.
if i have someone parking on the front and its not to do with my business then the company i use to keep it clear will ticket them...full stop.

I get them outside my unit, on a private estate.

Sign on door says no parking. They park so close I cannot get out.

Blocking them in works a treat, and then fooking off out for a few hours.
