Near miss or near death experiances .

Got 3 I can think of right now ,

    1) Messing about with my old automatic Sierra , revving it up a bit while half inside the car and it was in neutral ... don't know why or how realy but knocked it into reverse , went flying down the driveway and somehow managed to get inside and brake before the house wall .

    2) Riding bike on way to work early when it was still dark , car came flying round the corner on the wrong side of the road and knocked me off .
Luckily it was a female bike with the low top tube , managed to get my leg out the way of impact .
The impact ripped the crank clean off , handle bars bent etc .

    3) Using a milling machine at work and nearly loosing an arm ,
checking finish on bit of metal and the rotating cutter caught my sleeve , my sleeve got pulled into the cutter until the belt jammed up and machine stopped .

Had this have been the gear driven mill I would be driving an automatic now .
I canny invest in ya and for that reason , I'm oot .

I came round a corner once on a dark A road doing slightly in excess of the posted limit and a doddering old ****wit was coming towards me on the wrong side of the road, must have literally missed him by inches with a closing speed WELL in excess of 100mph

The most dangerous thing I've done off my own back is probably climbed out of a train carriage in a tunnel and touched the roof at about 80mph in total darkness, if there'd been anything there I'd have been in bits.

Carrying Marshall cabinets into a rehearsal room, which are very heavy. Had my BMX with me, so decided to sit on the seat, and rest the cabinets on the handlebars and wheel them in. The cabinet slipped and crushed my bell-end against the seat. It stang a little.

Damn lucky! guy round here got his arm ripped off in a lathe doing similar.

i had one, picked up a coolant feed block, pipe'd it up as a temp hyrdaulic manifold.
didn't realise it was cast not mild steel, when i turned the pump on half of the block shot past me and bounced of another machine

    1) Going to the Derby/Nottingham area and admitting that my mum and dad are not brothers.

    2) Getting caught with out any cigarettes at Wayne's house and asking if I can bum a fag.

    3) asking a female cannibal for a blow job.

I'm Not qualified to use an overhead crane but a place I was working basically told me to "learn" and to get the job done. Testing some 1.5 ton bars. Moving the bars was done with a magnet, I picked up a bar with the crane slightly more forward causing the bar to swing, crushing me against a smaller pile of bars. Luckily because I have near super-human strength at the laziest of times, I managed to push the bar away and slip out before it could really did some serious Damage! Onlyark
On me was a bruised and grazed shin and a brown stain in my trousers! Probably the scariest moment of last week!

I used to lie in the road with headphones on and dare myself to stay there for as long as I could, I was about 12.
Also 'mooned' everyone I saw on the way home from the pub at 2am in Liverpool city centre! lmao

Back in 1989 I was riding home from work on my motorbike on icy roads and a brand new white van in front turned right.

He then changed his mind, did a u-turn in the junction and promptly stalled it straight across the road totally blocking my path.

You can guess the rest ......

Ran out of skill driving a Fiesta trying to beat mum and dad home when I shouldn't have been out one night and ending up upside down in a field after barrel rolling 3.5 times off a 20 foot drop. Walked away but the cops didn't believe I was the driver at first it was that mangled.

Spotted a pin from a broken plug in a mains socket and thought it would be a good idea to remove that without turning the power off first.

Called my boss a c*nt to one of my co-workers when said boss was standing right behind me.

i can only think of one .. i was about 13 walking down the street with a mate and there was a car with a big tralior on the back full of concreat posts ( i think ) the tralior must have hit a pot hole or something because the next second it was comming straight for me at about 40-50mph i was lucky enough for a pelican crossing post to stop it befor it hit me ... it made a mess of the post so god knows what it would of done to me

roughly aged 21 i had a fall during ice hockey and ignored some abdominal pain that started the next day. the pain grew worse throughout that day until i was in agony and my abdomen was literally rigid with pain, the emergency services were called

i didnt know it at the time but i had acute appendicitis which had now ruptured and filled my lower abdomen with puss, i was in the early stages of circulatory shock and peritonitis. in the early hours of day 2 i had my appendix taken out and was bed ridden for a week, unable to even sit up un-aided and i could only walk using an OAP stroller.

i recovered fully, when i went back for my outpatient examination a month so later the surgeon regaled his students how it was the worse case he had seen in his career and being a couple hours away from fatality

Hitting a tractor at about 50mph on my Suzuki SV650. 8+ hours in surgery to have my femur pinned top to bottom and 3 screws, my left forearm and wrist plastered, 12 days in hospital and 6 months off work.

When my dad arrived and spoke to the copper, he was expecting to be sweeping up remains, when my dad told him i had already gone to the hospital via the air ambulance his face was a picture!

Over 3 years on and i still stiffen up when its cold/damp! And the scars are a permanent reminder!

An ex-girlfriend had a typical angry girl moment and slapped me several times so hard I went blind for 5 minutes.

Has anyone not nearly been crushed while being under a car by using a standard wheel jack?

Re: Near miss or near death experiances .

Can't describe the complete build up, but ended up using a rather large fork lift to pull an equally rather large alternator up an oily slope on a trolley between 2 concrete pillars. Said forklift decided to start wheel spinning on the oily floor. Operator hits the brakes and rapidly gets dragged back towards the posts by the weight of the alt with me in the middle. How fast can you move?
It hit the pillar with the biggest fooking bang!
Me. 1 leg 6ft in the air resting on the forklift rear deck and praising the heavens i saw the f*cker coming!

H & S at work eh? The following week the right gear was available but unusable as it was too bloody heavy! lmao

21 years on from my motorbike accident I still get problems with my knees when its cold / damp.

I had to give up riding soon after as I used to pull up to a set of lights and find I couldn't put my legs down to steady the bike lmao

Had one of my Renault 5's drop on me before thanks to the jacking point giving way! Rusty old piece of ****! Awesome car though. Luckily I hadn't took the wheel off so I got out with only a bruise, went from My shoulder to my hip! Wish I'd got pics of that!
