    Angry tax and insurance issues

    hi folks just thought id share my nightmare.....well yesterday swapped the insurance over to the nova from my astra was told on the phone i would still be insured on the astra for 7 days anyway been on the phone 9 times trying to get them to send a cover note and they only do faxes all 9 times they said it has been faxed but not got anything!!! i thought f*ck it ill do it online,checked online at MID the nova was showing insured went to tax and realised i needed a ref number wich i havnt receved the logs yet (but its in my name) called the dvla to get a refrence and said thy couldnt disclose that info ...then i thought hey im going to check too see if the astras still on the MID guess whaaaat it wasnt so im up a very big creek and think something should be done to sort out the mess beetween the dvla and insurance companys for ppl thats in my situation...its a bloomin nightmare just too make your pride and joy legal if it wasnt for MID i would b still driving the astra and probs ended with 6 points and it impounded

    I cant see why your Astra could be insured for 7days, never heard of that before..

    Fax? Dude that's like the dark ages, get it emailed over as that takes 5sec then you can see its there and print it while on the phone. You dont have the log book? Did you keep the green bit you get when you buy the car? As you can tax it from that...

    me neither mate full of crap that lot said they couldnt email because of the data protection act lol.....ive had it for a few months the last owner lost the logs but applied for it in my name it was processed on the dvla system on wedensday in my name and i was gonna tax it at a local office if the cover note came threw but its all went tits up now untill i either get the insurance papers or the log book in the post.not a happy chappy as this is my first nova always wanted one was looking forward to a nice drive up the coast roads to give it a good run after being cooped up in a lock up for 8 years being restored

    Never buy a car with out a log book dude. Not worth the risk.

    Dude is the full stop key broke? Very hard to read your posts.

    Anyway, yes you need the log book or tax reminder to tax the car.

    sorry mate lol.....................................nope its not broke :P

    didnt have any logs at all (i know bad idea) did have an old style green slip in with all the receipts tried that but would not accept.

    just think its a bit of a mess to make your motor legal tbh. but hey the log book or insurance docs should be here this week at some point i hope lol

    on the other hand i can play with the 40s and give her a nice coat of polish/wax untill they arrive.
