    Re: road legal quad

i had one a couple of years ago, was only a 100cc one tho, only thing i didn't like was the fact that road tax was the same as a car as its 4 wheeled, other that that is wasn't to bad insurance and fuel

no not a chav wayne the vxr is getting garaged end of the month untill the summer and the gte will be mot'd by then but didnt really want to use the gte over winter either so was considering selling the gte for some thing a little more winter orientated granted a quad isnt going to be the best but would be a bit of fun i would have thought??

And you need a car licence for the quad and not a bike licence.

•cost of fueling one? about £15 a full tank in a raptor 660
•what are they like to insure? I paid £300ish i was 27 with 1 years ncb on quad
•are they reliable? very if you look after it and service it (and keep an eye on the oil)
•what sort of price should i be expecting? anywhere from £1500 - £5000
•are they any use in winter conditions? if you dont use it when it snows you'll kick yourself as its the most fun ive had with 4 wheels. wrap up warm though

I had a 250 and that didnt cut it so i brought and ripped to bit and rebuilt from ground up a rator 660R so i know what these are like 1st hand

also the rappy 700 is injection ( and can be remapped ) with a power commander
also the 660 is 5 valve twin carb make sure its plg not farm

    lastley you'll love it

    Re: road legal quad

I do agree though; around here they are notorious chav mobiles.

I can see the appeal for an off-road quad, but why anyone would want one for the road over a car or a motor bike is beyond me; they have all the impracticality of a motorbike (get wet in the rain, vulnerbale in crashes, can't carry passengers or cargo), but lack the big advantage of being able to squeese through traffic. You get the worst of both worlds with a road going quad.

Oh yeah, and they have no differential, so high speed cornering on tarmac is interesting.
