You could do a lot of that on my old ESC, except you couldn't do reverse. lmao

I will happily admit that I have NEVER raced a petrol car, I have only raced electric and that is going back about 12 years ago (I did so for about 10 years).

I would agree with your comments on Tamiya as I personally think they are **** (have to buy a spur pack when you break the same part every time) but saying Kyosho are crap is very naive, when I used to boss my local circuits with one or two. Infact, my chassis was that developed back then I think I could now with the right technology banged in it.

Agree 110% on the local track thing as there is no point in being the only person racing a certain model because if you bash it your night is over.

Kerr, don't think I am pulling you up as I have posted most of the points you have over the years on here.
I've always raced nitro and can't really say too much about electric cars.

Electric cars offer that amazing punch off the corners but they can't replicate the noise or smell of.

That's another thing if you are wanting a car to drive around the block, nitro cars will piss the neighbours off. They are rather loud.

I really enjoyed my racing over the years. Now it's just sim racing at iRacing.com

Yeah but I used to race indoors. That's something you can't do with nitro cars.

My cars are still MINT now as I used to race on carpet.

I used to get really pissed off if something scratched my chassis. lmao

    Re: Radio Controlled cars

Some videos of indoor nitro racing on YouTube. Never heard of it before and it's stupid. The fumes are really strong.

First ever run in my old NTC3 taking it around the local car park I suffered radio runaway. Something went wrong(failsafe never kicked in) and I had to watch it fizz by me out the car park on to the industrial estate roads. After a bit of bumping and banging it went head in into the kerb flat out.

Saved the engine and electrics and not much else. Chassis was like a banana and most plastic parts cracked.

    It's not a cheap hobby.

One guy came from banger stock car racing. He ended up going back as the models were more expensive to race at club level!

    Re: Radio Controlled cars

I used to race indoors on wood back in the day, I only had my Tamiya TL01, I could never afford to buy anything better, with some minor upgrades (oil shocks/M-Troniks ESC). I didn't even have the proper tyres so used rally blocks lmao. I used to get some really good results though and it was great fun, the cars were rarely in a straight line! I think it was about £5 a race night too.

    Re: Radio Controlled cars

I've got a 1/5th scale Petrol RC car with a German DTM Vectra shell on it (but of course!), they are great fun, quite big, but probably not for very young kids, definately for kids 11+ as they are quite powerful for their size and can hit 80MPH, seriously! There's a place in Germany where I got mine from, called Hobbythek rc-car-online.de - RC Car Shop Hobbythek - Startseite, it will come up in German but there's an English option and remember they charge in Euros, when I got mine it was very favourable but I'm not sure now with the crisis. I also have a Tamiya TT01 with all the upgrade bits on it, build it up from a kit, it can be fun to do!

Still got a brand new drift electric RC car up the workshop somewhere. About 5 years old and unused waiting for me to buy radio gear and a motor for it. Didn't know what I needed to buy.

    You'd rather not know.

    Re: Radio Controlled cars

After wanting one since the childhood one i had. A quick look on fleabay produced a second hand good condition tamiya ta-03. 4wd belt driven and plenty quick enough. It came with everything you would need and cost £50. Definitely recommend second hand for first car. You can get a feel for it and if you get bored with it not much spent. Also doesn't matter if it repeatedly hits several walls in short succession.

    Re: Radio Controlled cars

    Agreed on buying 2nd hand, that's how i bought my 2wd X2C:

Over £600 worth, paid well under half for it.

Wouldn't be so willing to go 2nd hand with nitro/rallyX personally, i try to buy new.

Then you buy a fail safe that applys the brakes in case of signal failure/low batteries.

My Traxxas Revo 3.3 had one built in Although for the sake of what they cost, they're very much worth it!

I've not used my RC cars in about 2 years Just don't have the time, money and the space for them! Might sell the Revo if it's still worth anything.
