Isn't there a way of watching it remotely, on-line if you already subscribe or something?

Absolutely. I mean what could be better than sitting at home in your Ferrari pyjamas occasionally glancing up at you glass cabinet full of overpriced F1 replica cars that cost £200 each at 1.00am carefully glued to the screen in case someone actually overtakes someone else?
That's got to be better than going to the pub, getting pissed then going to watch something that involves actual sport before going back to the pub and getting more pissed with your mates.
I obviously need to get in more.

Im not an avid F1 fan but I watched last weeks race while getting pissed with my mates and it was a good one, not once did someone fall over for no reason and nobody stopped to fix their hair either.

bring on "come clog dancing". This is what is replacing F1 and is probably a lot more exciting.

lots of twists and turns in this race, glad to see Button winning his 200th race, kept his cool and Lewis lost out to his ill planned pits stops and bad stretegy on tyre choice, paid the ultimate price and lost his chance to win as he had a terrific start and was winning much of the way till half the race. Another bgreat British victory I would say.

Re: FFS! F1 to be on Sky Sports next year

ignoring murdoch specifically, do you not think sky is a bit more democratic ?? if you dont like football or racing, you get cheaper tele. if you dont want to see whales humping or reruns of greys anatomy, you get cheaper tele. the success of the product (the sport/program) is based on how good it is or how its presented or its popularity (subscribers) rather than being a small benefit of compulsary payment

i know its relatively moot point since you have to get tv license for sky anyway, but just saying.

the only thing i dislike is that everyone can get freeview or terrestrial, so moving stuff to satelite is taking away realistic choice for older technophobes, my nans never gonna be skyplussing emmerdale if it moved to living.

Yeah but I still have to pay the licence, I just have to pay extra now; and I don't want to pay £30 a month for Sky Sports when it's basically just a football channel. I don't want football, I hate the game. I want F1.

So I knda agree. But not as well.

I'm with you there Tathan but from a different angle. I would happily have gone without Sky but the f-i-l got it as a present for me and the missus when we moved in together.
There is absolutely no way in this world ever I'd pay extra to watch football (as much as I love it) because Sky get enough money as it is, and to me it's a) a rip off and b) a ****ing cheek to demand more for so called 'big' games.

Ex used to pay 35 quid a month for Sky, and only ever watched the news. I don't really watch enough TV to justify paying the TV license, or even having a telly!

Now a days you need a TV licence even if you don't have a TV, if you own a laptop/computer capable of showing programmes over the net, or even when you own the new mobile phones capable of browsing the net. Try and convince them that you do not watch any broadcasted programes on any of your devices that you might own other than a TV.

Nah, iplayer prompts you when you try and watch live telly that you need a licence for that, but not for catch up.

    Which is weird.

No, not for years. Cards are paired with boxes so even if you clone one it won't work.

Re: FFS! F1 to be on Sky Sports next year

i know this thread isnt about tv license, but you dont need a license just to own apparatus which has the ability to view live transmissions. you dont have to convince anyone anything, you still have to be caught.

read it yesterday, you can own a tele to watch pre recorded or bought stuff (i.e dvd's, blue ray, games) and not require a license

Re: FFS! F1 to be on Sky Sports next year

I love F1 (especially the last few seasons) and currently just have freeview; so just to clarify, in order to watch all of the races next season, I would have to get Sky TV (and put a council estate dish on my house) AND then pay for Sky Sports aswell on top!? How much would that cost?

    I am fuming!

I heard another rumour that the BBC may be losing Wimbledon to Sky too.

about £480pa, or £600 if you want HD which the BBC currently provides for free.

good move by the pressure groups and government - saved us £3 a year on the licence fee. Dicks.

F-that! You'd have to be a massive F1 fan to fork out at least £480pa. It's hard to believe.

One of the ex-soldiers at work tells me when in Germany, they used to watch the German RTL channel which is available online, and then listen to the Radio 5 live commentary, since Bernie Ecclestone refused to let the British Army get F1 on their normal British Army channel.

They will however check that your equipment is not connected to a recieving aerial, and be able to to receive a live broadcast, whehn they do call on you, they will check by switching on your tv to see it receives a live broadcast, and for them that is good enough an excuse that you owned equipment that was ready to receive live transmissions. They did this to eventhough I was not actually watching the telly at the time. I kept putting off renewing my TV license, and I was well into 4th month without a license.

You could have of course just refused to let them in.
