Whats your thoughts on Pontins 'Camber Sands' ????

only about half hour from me, the actual beach down there is good, is quite chavvy though. lotsa baseball caps and wifebeaters

The nearby old town centre of Rye is well worth a visit or two.

If the Pontins there is anywhere near as good as the one at Blackpool was you'll love it.
They have without doubt the best staff of any similar holiday centres such as Butlins and Haven.

I went there when i waqs about 5 and it was really good. However i went there last year (now 30!) and the accomodation is old and worn out and doesn't look like its ever been refurbished.. It's like going back in time very dated. From outside everything is faded and looks worse for wear. Honestly was terrible. Lots of Chavs shouting at their kids and getting pissed up causing arguements.

On the plus side Rye is samll but worth having a walk around. Good Z00 not too far away that has a Safari there too with Elephants , Zebras, Rhinos etc really good. Hastings isn't too far either woths a day out. Some nice little pub where Spike Milligan once lived , food was the best!

But the actual resort if you can call it that needs pulling down in my opinion.

On a vaguely related note, back in the '60s Pontins set up their first international package holiday camp here in Sardinia. Was really the start of the Med package holiday market, though in the mid-long term Spain proved to be a more suitable location.

They've gone from Sardinia but the hotel & camp is still there; I think it's closed for recon at the mo but I don't often go up that part of the island - Senegalese tarts not really my thing, lol.

I went to Pontins at Brean Sands around 10 years ago.

Dirtiest most run down chalet I've ever stayed in. You could run your hand over the sofabed and the dirt would come off on your hand. The cooker was so dirty, every time it was turned on (hob, grill or oven) the smoke alarm would go off, the curtains had what could only be described as "spunk stains" all over them and every morning, a random pair of crows would attack the skylight and wake us all up.

We complained and they changed the curtains ........

Tbh most (if not all) of these types of places have their idiots/chavs. Just ignore them, or if they start getting arsey threaten to give them a good shoeing it usually works.

I found wherever you go there is always a handful (or more) of cockney families and the women have always got black eyes. Maybe they're deaf, maybe they didn't listen to their husbands.

I was referring to Garyb`s thread about the Pontinental site in Sardinia. I was about 12 and i remember my old man coming home and saying he had booked a last minute package deal to Pontins in Sardinia. We asked him where it was and he said he didnt have a clue!..anyway a load of us went and it turned out to be the best holiday ive ever had, beautiful chalet in secluded pine forest by the beach,stunning! Ive been trying to find out exactly where it is and what its called now. It was called Pineta Beach!

I went to Butlins Pwllheli in 1993, and it was unbelievably grim. I can't see anything changing about the place unless they stop the beergut, football top, naff tattoo and JJB short wearing chavs and their horrible kids going and they actually hire some room cleaners. I can imagine it being worst now, what with chavs taking over the UK.
