Tracing a Hit and run

Some one went into me a little while ago and I lost their details eg registration number and they shortly cancelled their mobile phone contract, all I have is a name to go by and the police wont help! I had his full details but got a virus on my pc wich had to have a full destructive recovery hense I lost all my stuff.


Any ideas to what I could o steps I could take? I know his name, the rough idea of where he lives and the car he drives, but no reg etc, also his old mobile number wich t-mobile wont give me details to.

It happened at christmas time, Ive been waiting for the police to do their enquiries but nothing. Or so they say. Well it wasnt exactly a hit and run but they tried to do it privately bringing a dodgy mechanic who said alot of crap from that was damaged before to bla bal bla. But the way he was crying about it begging me not to call cops saying he will sort it out I gave him a chance. But when I phoned him again and asked for his details he didint give them, I know my fault but I had it on my phone, on laptop, and all messed up as my phone was connected to the laptop and I had a virus wich lost it all.

Only other thing you can do is since you know roughly where he lives, is to drive around randomly through the area and you know what car it was, surely you must remember some details, like the colour of the car, and if you see it parked then have a close look if it was the car, where the accident happened it may be his regular route so wait somewhere there to see if he drives through that area/road, only other thing is to find out through someone who works in Tmobile or someone like a friend of a friend of a policeman!! course most will bend when it suits them.

Yep. Google his name plus location (eg John Smith London)

Ive tried every thing I can yes I have his name wich I believe is real and also know the make of the car, Honda civic, dark grey silver I even have his picture. I guess I had too much on my plate and he did do big damage to me as well as the car but I guess I looked at the car and thought cant be as the damage looked small. But on closer expection I realised the chassis underneath was damaged alot.

His name is Dave Powers (could be david) , I went to a claims management place to see what they said and I gave him the reg etc so he didint say anything about the name not being true and also the location, but not exact location unfortunately.

He lives in Ifield apparently in Crawley.

Nobbie I havnt a clue what your trying to say mate, lol. But this is a serious matter, the Police ehre dont help they only work hard to find you when you do somethign wrong, but not others that do you wrong, every time I phoned them, each different office gave me a different excuse, or reply to whay and if they can help me. etc.
