its normally 4 working days bank to bank
For most major UK banks making direct bank to bank electronic tranfers, it should now be within 2 hours at any time of day.
The exception is if you are expecting to receive payment from Alliance & Leicester, HBOS, Nationwide Building Society or Northern Rock.

for me to transfer money from my account ( halifax ) to barclays takes 4 working days.
other banks may be different if this is the case i think i need to change
Same with my Halifax - from Barclays and from Halifax to HSBC 4 working days. But have no idea will it be cleared on my HSBC on fri

Bank A to Bank A will take a matter of hours usually (depends what time of the day the money is deposited).
But, Bank A to Bank B is usually 3 or 4 working days
Get with the times people, it's 2 hours for a bank to bank transfer and has been for over 24 hours now under the Faster Payments Service.
Took 2 weeks ago 4 days. Can you give me source? Does it changed recently then? As it was never 24 hours before.

I was transferred some on Tuesday and it's in the bank today.
My father sends me money and i send him from halifax to tsb and its pretty much instant.
Try looking on Google or BBC news etc. 2 min job.
No, it's 2 hours now, the service changed 24 hours ago (well, 36 hours ago now)

Just checked my sort code with the above checker (nationwide) and it says not available but i got a transfer to mine in 2 days, must be "outbound" payments only.
As I said up the thread, Alliance & Leicester, HBOS, Nationwide Building Society and Northern Rock are not offering the service on outgoing payments.
