Sounds like he was on the military equivalent of the GST.
Certainly more creative than just flying round the hills.
He has to do certain scenarios to qualify, one is flying in a busy urban airspace, so that is that one sorted.
I once ponced a lift back to Tidworth from Castlemartin in a Chinook, they went about 50 miles off route to drop me off!
