Trouble is, whilst Urbexing rules, I have been on the other side of the fence. I know someone tasked with looking after a site, and the committed explorers DO break in and cause damage. It's kinda killed my enthusiasm a bit. One of the guys from 28 days later insisted on finding out where the site was depsite my request to leave the place alone. It's getting trashed daily now

I did spend over 9 hours in Cane Hill - empty asylum in London - which was probably one of the best days of my life, every turn, every room was fascinating.

I've been to a couple of the places on that site when i was in Pittsburgh a few years ago. The Carrie furnaces were an eye opener to what sort of conditions people used to work in.

Actually, this is quite interesting

http://www.pahighways.com/toll/abandonedturnpike.html

Parts of the Pennsylvania Turnpike now abandoned for 30 or more years

you mean the old Festival Gardens site on the promenade next to the Mersey ?? all the gardens are now derelict waste land sometimes used as a motocross circuit by the local idiots. there were rumours of it becoming another housing complex but the site is on an old landfill so nothing can be built there for X many years. the dome is used as a car storage place for Renault and Nissan and holds all their new cars awaiting delivery.

Not sure what it was called but it had a Quasar on site, is that the one? Probably about 10/12 years since it closed at a guess?

Ah, but the whole point is that unless they can prove you broke in then you have not commited a criminal offence.

Cant you be done for trespassing or does that only apply to disused buildings, can the land owner do anything?

Trespass is a civil offence and the only recourse by the land-owner is for damages. So if you don't damage anything then they can only ask you to leave and secure the property behind you.

But I didnt think you had to break anything to be charged with breaking and entering?

In theory, if you get in w/o breaking (or possibly moving) anything, it's civil trespass and not a criminal matter.

Watch it tho, it relies on an implied license.
If you break something getting in then it's B&E and a criminal matter.
